Vehicles May Not Park on Borough Streets During Winter Snow Storms

Parking motor vehicles on Borough streets during periods of snow, sleet, slush, and/or ice interferes with plowing and salting operations and thus is detrimental to the public’s health, safety and welfare.  Snow plow trucks will have to return to re-plow the streets after the motor vehicles are moved. Per Borough Ordinance #628, it is unlawful to park any motor vehicle on any street within the Borough during periods of inclement weather when there is any accumulation of snow, sleet, slush, and/or ice on the streets in the Borough.  During such time, all streets and roadways are designed tow away zones and under the Authority of Section 6109(a-22) of the Vehicle code.  All residents can be of assistance to the Public Works Department by adhering to the following guidelines:

  • Please park in the driveway of your home and not on the street during periods of snow or ice to allow for easier access by maintenance vehicles. On-street parking makes it much more difficult for Borough forces to clear the streets, particularly when vehicles are parked on either side of the street.
  • When clearing driveways, do not shovel or blow snow back onto the roadway after the street has been plowed and salted. This type of action is illegal, hampers maintenance activities, and further aggravates hazardous conditions.
